Insect eye to eye by saddogeyes Insect eye to eye by saddogeyes
I really don't know what this is but it was kind enough to land on my towel and hold still for me to take a picture.

Do you mind if I use this as an example of small depth of field for *ThePhotoCritic's guide to giving good critiques? I'm finally putting photos in it

i love the contrast of the green fly
against the highly textured towel. i dont
think it would have worked at all as well if it
been on a untexture material, i really like
how some parts of the fly are sharp and at
the same time some parts of the towel are
sharp. really good macro

You're right, I guess the towel gives it a special note because in itself it would be worth a macro shot already. Combined with the fly it's basically a macro insect in a macro world...

Das Bild habe ich in Spanien gemacht, etwa eine Autostunde südlich von Sevilla am Strand von Matalascañas. Aber ob das jetzt die berühmte spanische Fliege ist, weiß ich auch nicht... :D

Beautiful macro shot! I love the eyes! :)

Yes, the eyes! They were actually the reason I doubted it was a simple fly but what do I know? I try to avoid any animal with more than four legs :giggle: And who knows, maybe flies from Seville just do look that way...

I have a friend with the same avoidance issue as you :giggle:

Yeah... I just think four legs are more than enough for... well... anything... six are too many (and those antennas? What's that all about?) And these arachnoids? Show-offs! No creature needs that many legs...

Oh... right... I had that successfully repressed... great, how am I supposed to sleep now? :sprint:
Oh well, wouldn't be the first night of deviantART related sleep deprivation (or DARSD... which is probably quite common in the community, I'm sure this'll hit the medical books some day). :D

Awesome! So now I'm expecting to see some great artwork from you in the morning due to your lack of sleep!

The funniest fly I´ve ever seen. And the contrast of the colours is just great :)

He he, thanks, it really was a weird little insect. But very professional, too... it didn't move until I had taken my picture. I'd work with it again but I kind of lost contact... :giggle:

Shame the most sharpness is on the towel, not on the fly, but still very nice

Like McDonals would say it, I'm loving it! :lmao:

Thanks for the comment, I really appreciate it! :) I know, the focus is a little off the eyes but I couldn't really see much with this fly-thing being so low on the ground. I had to trust the auto focus... would have liked a second shot but the fly went :sprint: after taking the picture :D.

The picture was taken with a Sony DSC-F717 on a beach about an hour outside of Seville, Spain. The camera was about 5 days old at the time :) If I ever go there again, I shall try the manual focusing ;)
